The Offer Letter Header

Hi there,

First of all - HAPPY FRIDAY! We made it my friend. :)

I am soaking up the San Francisco and Silicon Valley vibes this week (perfectly timed work trip, becuase it's like 12 degrees back home in Dallas) with Sunny, Ben and the Admin Awards team and have loved getting to see some of your beautiful faces in person. I am tucked away in the back of an Admin Awards info session as I write this with the warm and fuzzies. Thank you for being here reading this, and thank you for supporting us! Anyway, let me dab this tear and dive on in.

🎯 The Strangest Interview Question I've Ever Heard...

This week I stumbled upon and interesting Linkedin post from Sarah Goose, a career strategist and ex-Googler. She shared what may be the quirkiest interview question in history, and a framework for answering this category of trick question. Click the picture to view the full post and read other's odd questions in the comments!

📄 Outsmart the ATS

Here's a 5 minute hack that you should do before you apply to any job on a job board. Sometimes you just have to beat them at their own game.

Step 1:

Have a summary statement section at the top of your resume, or have a few bullet points under your most recent (or last few) jobs ready to edit.

  • 📝 Sidenote: Your resume should NOT have an objective section!

Why? Because hiring managers care about what you can do for THEM, not what you want. Replace it with a strong summary statement or skills section instead.

Step 2:

Find a job posted you're interested in.... and are genuinely a fit for. (I've had fast food workers apply for my medical device engineering jobs.)

Step 3:

Copy and paste the full job description into good ol' Chat GPT with the following prompt:

"Please pull out the 10 most important skills from this job description that I should include in my resume before I apply to increase my chances of getting shortlisted by the ATS"

  • For example, I asked Chat GPT to run this action on the job posting I included above with Tapestry, and this is what it spit out (Seriously if one of you gets that job, I will be ready to accept the Coach Rogue 39 as a thank you!)

    1.Executive Calendar Management

    2.C-Suite Support Experience

    3.Travel & Expense Management

    4.Communication & Email Management

    5.Project & Event Coordination

    6.Confidentiality & Discretion

    7.Leadership & Team Collaboration

    8.Technology Proficiency

    9.Problem-Solving & Proactive Thinking

    10.Stakeholder & Relationship Management

Step 4: Now type the following prompt into chat GPT:

"Please turn this into a concise summary statement that I can put at the top of my resume"

Life Hack: Make sure you say please so when AI takes over it remembers that you were nice to it.

  • Strategic Senior Executive Assistant with 8+ years of experience supporting C-suite executives, including CEOs, in fast-paced corporate environments. Expertise in executive calendar management, global travel coordination, high-volume communication handling, and confidential business operations. Adept at leading teams, managing high-profile stakeholder relationships, and optimizing executive productivity. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and executive-level project coordination. Recognized for discretion, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to streamlining operations.

Step 5: Edit it to actually reflect your skills, and your personal career journey, add it to the summary statement section of your resume et VOILA! I guarantee your application-to-screening ratio will increase.

Need someone to refresh your resume for you? Hit reply and let me know. I'll put you in touch with the best executive resume writer in the game!
